Major/Minor Information Session

Welcome to our Cities Information Session. We’ve gathered here all the information you’ll need to explore potential coursed choices with this link to our major and minor requirements as listed on our department website and with a list of our courses as well. You will be able to pose questions about individual courses, about pursuing specific interests within the major, or about potential trajectories through the semesters.

Thursday, April 7, 2022, 3:30-5:30 p.m., at Cloisters in Old Library

Courses at the 100 and 200-level are suitable for first year students and/or those with no prior Cities experience, whereas 300-level seminars are more appropriate for juniors and seniors with more background—but may be open to sophomores with permission.

New Course: Praxis Fieldwork Seminar: Exploring Urban Questions through Practical Engagement

Course #:CITYB420
Class meetings: Mondays (every other week, virtually) 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Course Description: This Praxis Fieldwork Seminar is intended for students pursuing remote internships in the greater Philadelphia area or other US metropolitan regions, who want to engage as a group with central urban questions related to social justice and sustainability. Bi-weekly virtual meetings will provide students with a space to share and reflect about their fieldwork experiences with different urban organizations. A set of jointly chosen readings will anchor our discussions of social justice and sustainability in urban contexts. Students are responsible for arranging their internships (8-10 hours per week) in advance and should work closely with BMC Praxis staff in the process.;
