Using an active learning approach, this course will use demonstration videos, role plays and small group discussion to help therapists conceptualize cases and practice some of the main CBT interventions. Special聽focus will be given on how to tailor the session to the client and how to attend to the therapeutic process when using a聽CBT framework.

Seasoned therapists know that theory and practice are different. Advanced practitioners that have mastered the basics of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) usually have several common struggles. One is difficulty with Cognitive Therapy Case Conceptualization. Another is the desire for more practice in specific CBT techniques. Lastly, many therapists express concern that it can be difficult to use these techniques in a way that accounts for the individual needs of each client and isn鈥檛 鈥渙ne size fits all.鈥
Putting It All Together: Advanced CBT Practice workshop will broaden skills in each area. Using an active learning approach, this course will use demonstration videos, role plays and small group discussion to help therapists conceptualize cases and practice some of the main CBT interventions. Special focus will be given on how to tailor the session to the client and how to attend to the therapeutic process when using a CBT framework.

Learning Objectives 1) Sharpen skills in CBT case conceptualization and identifying automatic thoughts, conditional assumptions and core beliefs; 2) Improve ability to use main CBT interventions such as finding evidence, the downward arrow, and alternative explanation; 3) Develop therapist thought process in identifying the technique that best serves each individual client; 4) Demonstrate advanced skills in therapeutic engagement and developing a therapeutic alliance.
Presenter:
Ruth Feinblum Conviser, M.S.S., L.C.S.W., has a post-master's Certificate in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from 老王论坛 Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research She worked in the public mental health system for a number of years in residential treatment, family-based mental health, and as an outpatient clinician with children and families. She founded Growth Solution Counseling, located in Center City Philadelphia, in 2008. She specializes in helping individuals and couples manage anxiety, improve communication skills, and thrive after divorce.
