Note: This workshop is required of those enrolled in the School Social Worker and Home and School Visitor Certificate programs.
This two-session workshop expands on the Educational Law for School Social Workers graduate course, providing additional information on IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act), ESL (English as a second language), and focus on Special Education Law and the 504 Rehabilitation act and how it pertains to our current, public educational system.
This workshop will be using a combination of presenting content, discussion and viewing of a Movie + Assignment (asynchronous work).
Schedule:
Synchronous Virtual Classroom Time: 7 hours
- Saturday, March 1, 2025: 9 a.m.–1 p.m. ET
- Saturday, March 8, 2025: 9 a.m.–Noon ET
Asynchronous Learning Time: 3 hours
- Students will be given an assignment that must be completed prior to the first class.
