Delegation: The Benefits, Pitfalls, and Strategies for Effective Work-Force Empowerment
The ability to delegate is a core leadership skill. As leaders, we understand that delegating is key to a successful business structure and critical to staff development and programmatic success. And yet, it can be a challenge. Delegating effectively requires comfort with asking for help and determining how to best assign tasks for effective completion. It is the cornerstone for a proper balance of work flow and requires setting clear expectations with those you supervise. For some of us, it is also an exercise in letting go and trust.
As such, delegation is often one of the most challenging skills for a manager to master. During this workshop, participants will receive training in the many facets of delegation, including when and to whom to delegate responsibilities, understanding the delegation process, and how to best offer support and oversight without micromanaging or undermining staff. Together, we will explore crucial mistakes and pitfalls to avoid.
In this workshop, we will support you in your role by:
- Offering rationale, skill development to the barriers of delegation.
- Understanding the caveats of the delegation process.
- Gain a better understanding of your own strengths and challenges related to delegation.
- Discussing opportunities and effective strategies for delegating work.
Delegating isn鈥檛 only about making life and work easier for you; it鈥檚 also about ensuring you assign tasks and projects that are aligned to everyone鈥檚 skills. Approaching delegation with humility and gratitude will take you a long way and help ensure that your people find success for themselves and on behalf of the agency.
Who Should Attend:
While a great fit for administrators and supervisors supporting a team, all persons interested in leadership and organizational development are invited and welcome to attend.
