Delivery: Synchronous Virtual Classroom via Zoom

Children and adolescents and their play habits have transformed over the past decade, largely due to a broad-based sociocultural shift towards technology. For this reason, it is important that therapists understand how these changes impact their child clients’ lives and therapeutic treatment. This training will serve as a guide for play therapists to creatively implement digital interventions based on their chosen clinical approach. A core focus of the training will be on speaking the modern child’s language and meeting them where they are in a digital era. Ethical considerations, diversity factors, and other essential considerations will also be explored.

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to 1) Describe two or more ways that the new world of technology impacts children and influences their participation in therapy;  2) Apply clinically sound virtual and digital play-based therapy interventions based on theoretical framework and client problem behavior; and 3) Identify two diversity factors and two ethical considerations when navigating the virtual and digital therapy platforms.

This program is appropriate for all levels of social work professionals who work with children and adolescents.
