What's happening at your internship? We would love to hear what kind of work you are doing!
BABLE-smartcities is a company providing consultancy for government and private companies in terms of smart cities solutions. I am in the France and Italy team and am mainly in charge of the market analysis. I did desktop research on the existent open data platforms and best practices in this aspect, such as the impact on cities, citizens, and services – a collection of secondary data, interactions with representatives of involved relevant stakeholders in the field – a collection of primary data, process both primary and secondary data and make conclusions, main trends, mapping of best practices/cities. Then, I create visually appealing and processed results to share with externals.
Why did you apply for this internship?
I find the concept of smart cities truly fascinating and believe that this internship would provide me with an invaluable opportunity to contribute to this rapidly evolving field. My passion for smart cities stems from a deep-rooted fascination with the intersection of economy, urbanization, sustainability, and technological innovation. I have always been captivated by the idea of creating more efficient, livable, and environmentally friendly cities that can enhance the lives of their residents. The concept of smart cities, with its focus on leveraging data, connectivity, and automation to optimize urban infrastructure, aligns perfectly with my interests and aspirations.
Can you talk about the skills you are learning and why they are important to you?
As a market analyst, I expect to do the desk research mainly. However, in addition to data analysis, I am also engaging with representatives of relevant stakeholders in the field. This interaction provides valuable insights into the challenges, needs, and perspectives of these stakeholders. Through interviews and discussions, I am learning how to effectively communicate with professionals from different cultural backgrounds, understand their requirements, and translate their feedback into actionable insights. This skill is essential for consulting and establishing strong relationships with clients and partners.
