What's happening at your internship? We would love to hear what kind of work you are doing!
I was a community-based organizer and I engage the local community to get involved in civic engagement and we gave the community resources to know their voter rights.
Why did you apply for this internship?
I applied for this internship because I wanted to know how to get more involved with the local communities in the surrounding area of 老王论坛. I also wanted to explore if public policy or a grassroots organization was a career I would possibly venture into.
What has been your favorite part of this internship?
My favorite part of this internship has been working with passionate young advocates who are very knowledgeable about voter registration and civic engagement. I have had an extremely supportive and enthusiastic boss that made meetings my favorite part of the internship.
Can you talk about the skills you are learning and why they are important to you?
I am learning how to draft documents to very important people, whether that is local/state officials, school board members, principals, and community leaders, about the work we perform at PA Youth Vote and asking them to get involved. This skill is highly important to me, because in a highly digitized era it can be a little intimidating drafting documents or emails and not knowing how a person may perceive the tone in which you are writing, so through this experience I feel a lot more confident to write to anyone.
What is most rewarding about your internship?
The most rewarding part of my internship was working with students and connecting them with PA Youth Vote because I was able to see the fruits of my labor being implemented.
Can you give us three adjectives and three nouns that describe your internship experience?
Amusing, Distinct, Energetic.
Philadelphia, Organizer, Community.
