What鈥檚 happening at your internship?
While working at Barclays, I am learning a lot about the financial aspects of the company. I have the opportunity to code while also understanding the financial impact my work will have. I am a part of a team that supports many applications used by investors, so it is a great opportunity for me to learn about the wide range of technologies used by banks and how they contribute to the company鈥檚 financial success.
Why did you apply for this internship?
I applied for this internship because I wanted to experience what it would be like to work at a huge financial company such as Barclays. I was interested in applying the computer science skills I learned in a classroom setting to solve real problems. My personal values and goals aligned with Barclays, and it felt like a great fit for me. I wanted to be a part of an environment that would push me out of my comfort zone and challenge me to think differently. I am also a huge fan of soccer and grew up watching the Barclays Premier League!
Working remotely for the first time? What has that experience been like for you?
Working remotely has helped me develop many important skills that will help me in the future. For example, networking is a significant part of summer internships. Since I am not located in the same physical environment as the people I am working with, I am focusing on my communication skills by reaching out to people and setting up virtual meetings with them.
What is most rewarding about your internship?
The most rewarding aspect about my internship is working with many people across the globe. Since Barclays has offices in many locations, I have had the privilege of meeting people from London and India. I really enjoy learning from people who have different perspectives and experiences than me.
