Job Title: Technology Summer Analyst
Location: Remote
What鈥檚 happening at your internship?
I am working as a technology analyst intern, which means I get to develop software applications for financial services.
Why did you apply for this internship?
I knew I was interested in software engineering internships because I love building things. I am passionate about being a part of a team that makes tools that are used in a wide scale by traders and financial analysts and are key to how the bank functions. Working as a technology analyst at Morgan Stanley combined my passion for technology and finance while letting me work in the division that I am most passionate about (software development).
Working remotely for the first time? What has that experience been like for you?
Working remotely did not have an effect in my learning curve at all. Whenever I was having trouble with something, I was a simple call or message away from my co-workers and they would respond instantly. I found working remotely less stressful than being in the office and made the most out of it. I could learn things at my own pace, and the company鈥檚 recruiters as well as my manager made sure that I had everything I needed to be successful in my project and have a positive experience overall.
Can you talk about the skills you are learning and why they are important to you?
I am learning how to contribute to large scale software products with minimal experience in the technology stack used by my team. To me, this means I am developing the patience and adaptability needed to drag myself out of errors and environments that I am often not accustomed to. I also learned to pace myself, set achievable goals, and communicate my progress as well as potential troubles to my team in time so that I can deliver results as efficiently as possible.
