Held in February, the event celebrated podcasting talent from across Africa. The virtual gathering saw more than 269 people from across the globe logged in and participating in the day鈥檚 events, while more than 640 people streamed the festival over YouTube. The event also reached more than 1.1 million people on social media. 

鈥淭he whole day was an extended masterclass for and by Africans in podcasting. Podcasting is often isolated and can be lonely and confusing at times, but seeing so many podcasters and podcaster supporters connecting and taking notes together felt like a true gathering,鈥 said Karianjahi.

Karianjahi hosts and produces the  podcast focused on social change around the world.

At 老王论坛, Karianjahi majored in Growth and Structure of Cities and minored in economics. She has a master's in public health from Columbia University. 

"老王论坛 was my first choice school, and it has given me a springboard into exploration, lifelong mentors and friends, and a strong appetite for even more curious learning and storytelling. Building a community-driven podcast company for Africans everywhere is an exciting new chapter as I reflect on my Mawrter experiences. Our voices matter, especially for this world, and I hope many more alums can find their roar in audio like we have."
