Abstract: , a volume co-edited by S茅verine Rebourcet and Agn猫s Peysson-Zeiss, examines the place of disability studies in the Francophone world from a variety of perspectives, genres and geographical locations.
Peysson-Zeiss, in: 芦 Entre tradition et modernit茅 : le handicap revu et corrig茅 禄 analyzes facial clefts and albinism in comics and children鈥檚 narratives from the Global South. She foregrounds the strategies used by authors to challenge discourses of marginalization and strategies of invisibilization prevalent in their communities in order to create spaces of healing, (re)integration, and inclusivity. Her analysis furthermore emphasizes the unique potential provided by the interrelationship between text and image in comics/graphic novels and illustrated children's books.
