Want to find out how to do academic year internships through Praxis Independent Study or through 5 new Praxis Internship Seminar courses? Come to the Information Session!
Praxis Independent Study gives students the opportunity to develop an academic year internship (8-10 hours a week) as the core component of a course in either a self designed area of study OR in Praxis Internship Seminar courses. There will be five Praxis Internship Seminar courses offered in Spring 2018:
- Museum Studies Fieldwork Seminar (Professor Monique Scott)
- Human Services and Public Health Seminar (Professor Jim Martin)
- Activism and Social Justice Seminar (Professor Nate Wright)
- Psychology in Practice: Community Based Learning (Jodie Baird)
- Exploring Museum Applications of Augmented and Virtual Reality (Jenny Spohrer)
In the self-designed or the seminar courses, students develop a Learning Plan in collaboration with a Faculty Advisor, Field Supervisor and Praxis Directors. They can receive assistance in finding internships from LILAC staff. Students must obtain an internship and complete a Learning Plan by December 21, 2017.
On Tuesday, October 10th from 7-8:30 PM, (Haffner), former Praxis students will present about their experience designing and implementing their courses through an informal poster session and panel presentation. Hear from fellow students about what worked well and the lessons they learned while creating and completing their courses.
