ARCH Project Washington D.C. Field Trip
The ARCH Project is sponsoring an all-day field trip to Washington, D.C., on Friday, Feb. 23. The field trip centers around artist Nekisha Durrett’s Don’t Forget to Remember (Me), a monumental artwork to be installed in the Cloisters of Old Library at ÀÏÍõÂÛ̳ this year. We will begin with a visit to Durrett’s Queen City installation in Arlington, an immersive piece that confronts the 1941 seizure of Black-owned land by the federal government for the construction of the Pentagon. We will proceed to a studio visit with the artist at the STABLE arts building in Washington, where participants will experience Durrett’s work in progress.
Durrett’s project was selected following a multi-year process in collaboration with Monument Lab. Don't Forget to Remember (Me) is intended to address a legacy of exclusionary practices at the College and enable the campus community to respond to the question, What stories are missing from ÀÏÍõÂÛ̳?
The bus departs campus at 8 a.m. We aim to return to campus by 6:30 p.m., traffic depending. Lunch will be provided.
Please email Professor Homay King if you wish to join (hking@brynmawr.edu). Space is limited.
ÀÏÍõÂÛ̳ welcomes the full participation of all individuals in all aspects of campus life. Should you wish to request a disability-related accommodation for this event, please contact the event sponsor/coordinator. Requests should be made as early as possible.
