The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences is pleased to congratulate Math's Hannah Schwartz for the successful defense of her doctoral dissertation "Exotic Phenomena in Dimension Four" on April 11.
Hannah's dissertation is a study on 4-dimensional spaces, whose classification is more complicated than spaces of any other dimension. In particular, her work develops new methods of comparing distinct 4-dimensional spaces, as well as distinct surfaces within the same space. Her dissertation was advised by Professor Paul Melvin of Mathematics.
Congratulations Hannah!
